On Christmas Eve we headed out to Zurbrugg Farms to get our tree.
We found a perfect one pretty fast and managed to get it cut down and hoisted on top of the truck to take home. We all think it’s the best and biggest tree we’ve ever had, but we say that every year.
Christmas Eve was very casual…pizza and prosecco and lots of laughing. On Christmas morning we opened a few presents, had some bagels and lox, went for a hike in the arboretum where we all got super muddy.
I like this photo I took of my mom on the redwood deck (in the redwood grove of the arboretum) with her white shepherds, Pirate and Journey:
Our friends Jake and Patti arrived and Christmas dinner was festive and delicious (and I took zero photos of it because I was too busy stirring risotto).
Yesterday (Boxing Day!) we all piled into the truck and headed up to walk in the snow at Mt. Hood.
It was grayish on the drive up, but on the mountain we got a few nice patches of blue sky.
We walked around, threw some snowballs, and Jake made a snow angel.
Last night I made a big pot of soup, a salad, and a couple trays of garlic bread and we had more friends over to join us for dinner. Tonight we’re all going out to Swank + Swine downtown for dinner, and then tomorrow we’ll head up to the boat for some San Juan Islands fun with Jake and Patti. The weather’s looking like we’ll be able to get a few days of exploring in before they head back to San Diego on the 2nd.
Happy New Year everyone!
Hello again, nice to see someone cruising winter-style. That means no massive yacht wakes in congested channels, cheaper marinas, and now lower diesel prices. Love the stocked wine cellar, but you can’t go to Canada with that much grape., as you probably know. Blowing hard here tonight in west seattle, curious how your Saturday night was at the Langley docks. Cheers, and be sure to go to the great Sluys Bakery in Poulsbo, just a block uptown from the Poulsbo Marina
Hi Kevin: Yes, we’re getting really spoiled with all this winter cruising, for sure!
Last night here in Langley was windy and a little roll-y but we slept fine. Yep, we’ve been in and out of Canada in the Airstream and know the drill. 🙂
Cheers!
2.30 USD/gal
2015-01-13 Diesel price at the Port of Brownsville marina, located south f the Poulsbo waterway
Sweet, thanks for the tip! We’ll be sure to fill up!
