Dungeness Crab, Octopus Salad, and Razor Clams

We're in Skamokawa, WA now, at Skamokawa Vista Park. Here's our new spot, right on the Columbia River:

SkamokawaMay13-1

These spots along the river are all dry camping but there's plenty of sun and our fresh water tank is full so we should be good to go for the next couple days. It's in the low 70s here with a nice breeze and a great view.

We left Nehalem Bay today around noon and headed up the Oregon Coast. We stopped at a spot called Warrenton Deep Sea Seafood Market, Smokehouse and Cannery (in the town of Warrenton, just before you get to Astoria).

Deepseafish-1

We found it on Yelp and it sounded great, and we wanted to get a few things: (a) crab for tomorrow (Mother's Day crab benedict for my mom, who will be joining us here at Skamokawa later today), (b) some seafood for dinner tonight and tomorrow night, and (c) maybe something to snack on for lunch. We scored on all three.

Astoria-1

We got some fresh Dungeness crab, some fresh local sea bass to barbeque tomorrow night, some razor clams we're going to cook tonight, and for lunch: a small container of spicy octopus salad (amazing!), some seaweed salad, and a couple pieces of salmon jerky. Everything was so good!

We haven't done razor clams before, and we got some of them already cleaned plus some still in the shell. The nice ladies at the fish market gave us a bunch of tips on how to clean them (plus directed us to a really good YouTube video that shows you how to do it) so it'll be fun to learn how (but not have to do ALL of them). We plan to cook them in butter with a light panko crust, wedge of lemon, and serve with a salad of some local organic greens.

Happy Mother's Day weekend!
