Today we took Kyle into Portland for some Portlandy things. First stop was home to grab a few things, and then we headed over to a food cart we found online called Carte Blanche. It's in an older Airstream Safari, over on SE Hawthorne and 32nd Street.
Here's a link to their site, and their menu. All three of us had The Huck: a beef burger with carmelized onions, roasted red bell peppers, pickled green beans, flagship cheese, avocado, arugula, sweet chili srirache aioli, and candied bacon. A perfect sized burger, and such interesting flavors. Loved it. There was a bit of a wait and they brought us a little bit of their bread pudding (to thank us for being patient). The bread pudding was AMAZING: mango, blueberry, thai basil with kaffir lime caramel and thai tea whipped cream.
Next, we headed for the airport. The weather had finally cleared up enough for us to take Kyle for a flight. The clouds were still low over the coast range, so we just noodled around a bit, then took the Columbia River route out to Astoria and back.
We flew over Champoeg State Park (middle right of the image, on the river):
After the flight, we stopped at Zupan's and grabbed some tenderloins and asparagus to cook for dinner tonight, and then headed down to check Voodoo Doughnuts off the list for Kyle, but unfortunately there was a line about 30-45 minutes long around the front of the block. ???? I know it's popular, but I've never seen that. We decided it was too long to wait since it was 5:30pm already, so we second choiced it over to Cupcake Jones and got a 12-pack of assorted mini cupcakes that will be extremely delicious, I know. Just not a maple bacon bar.
Kevin and Kyle are taking the hexacopter up over the Airstreams right now for some aerial photos. Will post later.
What a great day!

🙂 Should I send him a link?
Yay! Looks fun! Glad you made it out, and the weather permitted.
