Okay this post might be controversial.
We finally joined the WBCCI.
Well, the check is in the mail, anyway. And we have been assigned numbers. We went to a few rallies this summer to check it all out, and they were a blast…we met some great people and thought it was really fun to see so many Airstreams in the same place.
However.
I don't want to vote. I don't want to go to meetings. And I don't want to wear a beret. (I'm just not a hat person.)
For me, this club is about travel, meeting people, and Airstreams. I have a job that takes up a lot of my time and mental energy, and I don't want to have another job. I just want to travel around in my Airstream and meet interesting people. I'm not even sure I want to put the big red numbers on the trailer. (I know, I can hear the gasps from here!)
Those of you who know me know that I'm not really a club joiner. At all.
So why bother joining? Because:
- The rallies are fun.
- Meeting other people with Airstreams is fun, and
- Sooner or later I figure the group will get tired of the "Well, we're not official members yet, actually" line.
Is it okay if I don't vote or go to meetings or wear a beret if I pay the club dues and make yummy food for the potlucks?
